Solar hot water heating
All hot water is heated from solar panels on the villa roof.
Natural Materials
All materials used in the villa are natural.
Low VOC (volatile Organic Compounds) sealants, paint and adhesives ... improving air quality. No carpets, the source of most VOC’s, are being used.
Electricity
Most Thai electricity is produced from hydrocarbon based power generation plants.
Reducing our use of electricity reduces our carbon footprint. All light bulbs are compact fluorescent. Only two light bulbs exceed 10 watts.
Air Conditioning
Exclusive use of non-CFC producing refrigerants.
Drinking Water
Each villa is provided with large capacity drinking water containers for guests to refill their water bottles, reducing plastic water bottle use.
Bathroom Amenities
Refillable bottles with pumps for body wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. to eliminate landfill proliferation of plastic bottles.
Water conservation
The water in the lagoons uses a recirculation system provided by wells on site.
Dual flush toilets are in both ensuite bathrooms.
Most of the public area landscaping requires little irrigation.
Bedding
100% organic cotton bed sheets, towels and bathrobes.
Mattresses use natural flame retardant protecting guests from exposure to hazardous toxic chemicals found in traditional mattresses.
Energy conservation
Because the evening temperatures drop to the mid-teens the villa interior stays cool most of the day. Extensive insulation, air tight windows and other openings, based on international research, keep the cool air inside the villa.
Large window areas with large roof overhangs capture natural daylight mean no artificial lighting is required, even in the ensuite bathrooms, during daylight hours.
Natural Runoff Mitigation
Runoff water for the entire project is directed to lagoons on the site reducing potential pollution flowing into canals, streams and rivers and surrounding land.
Elimination of Light Pollution
All exterior site lighting is reflected downward avoiding disruption of nocturnal environment and nocturnal patterns.
